[ARCHIVED] Council Appoints Sherry Leckrone to Fill Vacant Council Seat

At the October 2, 2018, Town Council Regular Session meeting the Council voted unanimously to appoint Sherry Leckrone to fill the vacant council seat previously held by Councilmember Cecil Yates. The Council seat became vacant when Councilmember Yates resigned in order to run for Mayor.


Leckrone was one of five applicants interviewed by the Town Council out of the eleven applicants who applied to fill the vacant Council seat. Leckrone previously served for four years on the Planning and Zoning Commission. She has extensive legal experience in Arizona and Illinois and most recently worked as an attorney for the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office as Bureau Chief of Special Crimes. Her legal background permeates past her professional life and into her many years volunteering and teaching within the judicial system.


Sherry Leckrone will be sworn in as a Council Member at the beginning of the Town Council meeting on October 16, 2018, and will be serving the remainder of the Council term which ends in 2020.
