A striking new shade structure, root barrier and upgraded special event power access are among the significant improvements currently underway along the Linear Park on the Avenue of the Fountains.
Crews are actively working along the eastern side of the park, where a fenced-off area marks the installation of a custom-designed 100-foot by 60-foot shade structure. This spacious, covered seating and picnic area will offer much-needed relief from the sun, making it ideal for eventgoers or anyone looking to take a break during a walk.
“Residents and visitors will soon notice a significant enhancement to the park,” said Community Services Director Kevin Snipes. “The additional shade with its artistic design will make events and everyday visits more enjoyable, especially during warmer months.”
Installation of the shade structure is expected to be completed by the end of July.
The project also includes several other enhancements. New power receptacles have been installed on the eastern half to provide safer, more efficient electrical access during events. Power receptacles along the western half will be completed by early fall. Additionally, root barriers have been added to protect the paver sidewalks and nearby infrastructure from damage caused by growing tree roots.
Together, these improvements aim to enhance the overall experience at Linear Park, creating a more comfortable and functional space for the community to gather and enjoy.
