FOUNTAIN HILLS, AZ - Gerry Friedel was sworn in as the Town’s 9th mayor at the Town Council meeting on Tuesday, December 3rd.
“I am thrilled to serve and lead this great Town as the next mayor,” Friedel said. “I love this community and look forward to working collaboratively with our residents to make this a premier destination to live, work and play.”
Friedel spent the past four years as a Town councilmember.
Mayor-elect Friedel has been a full-time Fountain Hills resident for more than ten years. He spent 39 years in the banking industry with 22 years as a loan officer and 17 years as a financial planner. Friedel has a BA in Bank Management/Finance from North Central College in Naperville, Illinois, and a Certificate in Financial Planning from Loyola Business School in Chicago. He has worked with clients from all walks of life as well as small businesses, helping them to achieve their financial goals. He believes in fiscal responsibility, accountability and transparency.
Mayor-elect Friedel is succeeding Mayor Ginny Dickey, who has served in that role for the past six years.
Moving forward, some of Mayor-elect Friedel’s priorities are placing an emphasis on road repairs and maintenance, promoting government transparency and meeting with the newly elected sheriff to review the Town's contract with the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office.
