FOUNTAIN HILLS, AZ (November 26th, 2024) - Construction is now underway at Golden Eagle Park to substantially improve the park’s drainage capability and work to minimize flood damage.
Beginning this week, crews with B4 Enterprises will work at the affected area of Golden Eagle Park. Golden Eagle Park has faced challenges with stormwater management due to its original design and was severely damaged by large flooding events in both 2018 and 2019.
Among other improvements, the new project will:
· Relocate shallow irrigation and electrical lines within drainage channels.
· Move light poles to enhance drainage capacity.
· Replace existing 5-foot sidewalks with 8-foot multi-use fitness paths (MUP), connecting the north and south sides of the park.
· Construct a pedestrian bridge over Bristol Wash, ensuring ADA accessibility for all park users.
Additional work will include channel enhancements, construction of floodwalls, installation of drop basins, apply grouted riprap and upgrades to irrigation systems.
Most of the sidewalks within the park will be closed for the duration of the project, and clearly marked with construction fencing. The ball fields will be open during the project for scheduled events and crews are aware of the busy nature of the park and will work to minimize the impact to those enjoying the facilities. They are also aware of blackout dates when larger events are planned.
Construction should complete by August, 2025.
