Fountain Hills Community,
We are now in the part of the year where the weather is absolutely gorgeous, showcasing exactly why so many of us love to live, work, or visit Fountain Hills. Our parks and walking paths are bustling with activity, and it’s wonderful to see everyone enjoying this amazing community.
With more people out and about, our partners at the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office have responded to several recent vehicular collisions, including single-vehicle incidents, vehicle-pedestrian, and even a vehicle-cyclist crash that left the cyclist injured.
Please help keep our community safe by staying mindful and aware, whether you’re behind the wheel or on your feet.
Drivers:
Stay Alert: Avoid distractions and keep your attention on the road, especially at intersections and curves where cyclists and pedestrians may be harder to spot.
Share the Road: Maintain a safe distance when passing and give cyclists ample room to maneuver.
Obey Speed Limits: Following speed limits helps provide reaction time and minimizes risk in areas frequented by cyclists and pedestrians.
Check Twice: Always check mirrors and blind spots before turning or changing lanes to ensure the way is clear of cyclists.
Cyclists/Pedestrians:
Be Visible: Wear bright or reflective clothing, especially at dawn, dusk, or nighttime, and use front and rear lights to stay seen.
Follow Traffic Laws: Obey all traffic signs and signals. Ride in the direction of traffic, and signal when turning to communicate with drivers.
Stay Alert and Predictable: Avoid distractions, stay focused on the road, and ride in a predictable manner. Be extra cautious when approaching private drives where vehicles may be entering or exiting.
Use Bike Lanes: When available, use designated bike lanes and paths. If there are no bike lanes, stay as far right as safely possible.
Thank you to everyone who is helping keep our community as safe as possible!
