The first phase of the sidewalk infill project begins on December 12 and will be completed by January 13, 2023. This phase includes improvements on N Saguaro Blvd from N Tower Drive to the Big O Tires (south of E Rand Drive). The upgrades include new curbing, sidewalk, driveway replacements, and asphalt placement. Please use alternative entrances. We apologize for any inconvenience this project may cause you during this time of street improvement.
As the area continues to grow and new development comes to the Town, it is essential to have a clear vision for a transportation network that meets the needs of all users. As part of the Active Transportation Plan, with input from residents and adopted by the Town Council in 2021, one of the Town's visions is for "Pedestrian Facilities: Improved/connected sidewalks (closing gaps), links to existing shared use paths, and accessible facilities." www.fountainhillsaz.gov/720/Active-Transportation-Plan The Town of Fountain Hills Active Transportation Plan (ATP) was the first active transportation plan developed by and for the Town. The Plan serves as the primary tool for deploying and integrating connected, safe, and comfortable facilities for bicyclists, pedestrians, and other nonmotorized modes within the Town.
In March 2022, the Town received a federal grant for a sidewalk infill project along Palisades Boulevard between Fountain Hills and Saguaro Blvd. and Saguaro Blvd. between Fountain Hills Blvd. to Colony Drive. The gap infill project includes the construction of a meandering 8-foot sidewalk, utility relocations, driveway improvements, roadway narrowing, pavement obliteration and restriping, retaining walls, landscape restoration, and sign relocation.
Last November, the Town and the Arizona Department of Transportation held an open house to share information about the sidewalk infill project along Palisades Boulevard.
Updated information will be available on the Town's website at www.fountainhillsaz.gov/833/Sidewalk-Infill-Project.
