[ARCHIVED] Fountain Hills Town Council Takes No Action on Ethics Complaint

On April 12, 2022, the Town Council met in an executive session to review the findings and conclusion of an ethics inquiry involving Mayor Ginny Dickey, Councilmember Peggy McMahon, and Alan Magazine. After reviewing the complaint and a report from the independent ethics officer, the Town Council has declined to take action.

As part of the ethics inquiry, the ethics officer concluded that Councilmember McMahon and Mayor Dickey and did not violate the Code of Ethics. However, the ethics officer concluded that Councilmember Magazine’s comments during his January 26 visit to Pearl Nutrition violated Section 8.4, Section 8.6, and Section 8.8 of the Code of Ethics.

Under the town’s code of ethics procedures, the findings and conclusions from an outside ethics officer are advisory. They are taken into consideration by the Town Council before taking possible action. After reviewing the investigator’s report, Town Council elected not to take further action.
