[ARCHIVED] 2:30 PM UPDATE - McDowell Mountain Road Reopening by 3 p.m.

UPDATE 2:30 P.M.  - McDowell Mountain Road reopening to traffic by 3 p.m.

UPDATE 1:55 P.M.  This morning's road closure was caused by a hit-and-run involving a fatality of a bicyclist. Since this is a crime scene, MCSO is doing a thorough investigation. It is anticipated that the road will remain closed for another 2-3 hours. As more information becomes available it will be shared here.

11:30 a.m. According to MCSO, the McDowell Mountain Road closure will continue for another 3-4 hours as they work on the investigation. Please plan your travel accordingly. 

10:00 a.m.  Maricopa County REACT has signs up north of Palisades and Fountain Hills Blvd. identifying the closure on McDowell Mountain Road. It is also well identified the rest of the way to the Middle School.

8:11 a.m. ROAD CLOSURE NOTICE- McDowell Mountain Road near milepost 5 is closed due to a vehicle accident. Traffic is closed in both directions and the only detour is through Scottsdale. McDowell Mountain Park remains open but must be accessed from the Rio Verde side, not from Fountain Hills. 

MCSO are turning cars around just past the middle school.

Expect this closure for several hours.
