Placement of concrete curb and gutter on Fountain Hills Blvd. (from Pinto Drive to Segundo Drive) began on Monday, June 24. Traffic will be stopped as needed at times by a flagger in tight pavement areas during the curb placement. It is anticipated that both traffic lanes will be open during nights, week-ends, and holidays.
Potholing had located a number of shallow underground, pre-incorporation utility lines, which precluded constructing the originally designed road shoulder ditches, on both sides of the roadway. The revised design now provides for a vertical curb and gutter behind a paved, widened roadway width.
The project is primarily funded by Congestion Management Air Quality (CMAQ) Federal-Aid funds, with a lesser amount of matching funds from the Town. The project construction contractor is Visus; the Arizona Department of Transportation is administering the project’s construction, in liaison with Town Staff.
