Alzheimer's Support Group

Meets on the 2nd & 4th Thursday of each month from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

Support Group Facilitators create a safe, open environment where people share their feelings, thoughts, and experience in a combined effort to better cope with and manage the shared problems of dementia. The goal of support groups is to provide emotional, social and/or educational support to group members.

Facilitator: Heather Erwin, with Home Instead Senior Care, is trained by the Alzheimer's Association as a Support Group facilitator.HomeInstead Senior Care Opens in new window

Home Instead also provides a licensed caregiver to assist with the caregiver's loved one in activity during the group meetings.

Caregiver's Support Group

Meets on the 1st Monday of each month from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Caregivers come from all ethnic, geographic and racial backgrounds. There are wide variations in the conditions of those who are receiving help, the kinds of assistance needed, the level of caregiver burden and self-perceptions of caregivers and their willingness to utilize the formal service delivery system. Remember the old adage, "Trouble shared is trouble halved."
